I officially filed for office! I am so proud that my name will be on the ballot as the DFL candidate. My husband Gabe joined me at the Secretary of State’s office for this important milestone (and to take pictures).
Becker-Finn Files for Election to House of Representatives in District 42B
Education, Employment and Natural Resources Top Concerns of Roseville Mom
ST PAUL— Jamie Becker-Finn of Roseville officially filed to be on the ballot for the Minnesota House of Representatives to serve the suburban district that includes Vadnais Heights, Little Canada, Gem Lake and portions of Roseville and Shoreview.
Becker-Finn, 33, is a mother of two and married to Gabe Becker-Finn.
“I will work to serve the best interests of all residents of District 42B. As a new voice in the Legislature, I will not be burdened by the ill-will and strident partisanship of the past. We must work together to accomplish positive outcomes for our communities”, stated Becker-Finn upon her filing.
Becker-Finn is seeking election to replace Representative Jason “Ike” Isaacson who decided not to seek another term in the House and instead is a candidate to replace retiring State Senator Bev Scalze.
Currently an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney, Becker-Finn focuses on prosecuting those who commit domestic violence crimes. “In my employment, I strive to serve victims of abuse and violence. I work closely with advocates for the victims as well as the police and criminal justice system professionals. In this capacity, I have proven experience bringing together people from different points of view.”
“Good jobs with fair pay, family friendly leave policies, and maintaining a good quality of life for our seniors are at the top of the needs of our district,” said Becker-Finn. She also intends “to focus on educational issues such as pre-K and the burden placed on young adults and their families by the excessive amount of student debt that is now required to obtain a higher education.” Becker-Finn continued, “Having been raised in northern Minnesota, I was blessed with experiencing the beauty and bounty of our natural resources. It is imperative that we act today to protect our resources if we want our children and grandchildren to have the same opportunity!”
